Friends of the Boundary Waters x Hippy Feet Native Trout Wool Hiking Crews 2-pack
Made in the USA with Premium Merino Wool. Inspired by the North. Built for anywhere.
There are a hundred reasons to paddle your way through the pine-scented silence of Northern Minnesota’s Boundary Waters, the mirrored lakes, the loon's cry, the chance to leave behind everything except what you can carry on your back. But for some of us, it’s all about the fish.
Included among the many reasons to visit the Boundary Waters in Northern Minnesota is the opportunity to pursue the elusive Brook and Lake Trout (Char), the only 2 native trout species in Minnesota. Now, if you're talking to any fly fisherman elitist, they will proudly tell you that Minnesota does not have any native trout species and that these trout are in fact salmonoids, or a Char, and not a trout. The elites are correct.
The Brook Trout, otherwise known as the Salvelinus Fontinalis, which translates to "little salmon, living in springs" is a personal favorite species of our Founder. He may or may not have this colorful fish tattooed on his arm and as the screensaver on his phone. Obsessed much, Michael? These socks feature a stunning Brook Trout along the calf, with its colorful profile knit into a Forest Green background.
The Lake Trout is one of only two native trout (Char) species in Minnesota. "Dweller of the Deep" or Salvelinus namaycush, if we’re getting fancy. Cold, deep, and elusive, these fish are a prized catch for anyone who’s laced up their boots and hiked to the lake with nothing but a rod and some optimism. These socks feature a beautiful Lake Trout along the calf, sporting its cool color-scheme knit into a Deep Lake Blue background.
These socks are a nod to the resilient fish that waits in the depths, the swimming through the brisk lakes of the North. Both favorites of our Founder. Slip on these cozy merino wool crews and get your line set!
